Bold Redesign Fuses Art, Atmosphere and Gaming Action

Atlantis Casino. Paradise Island, Bahamas. HBG Design

The legendary Atlantis Paradise Island has unveiled a stunning transformation blending world-class art, inspirations from Bahamian culture and kinetic energy into a seamless guest experience.

Through bold design and reimagined entertainment venues, HBG Design has created a casino environment as visually captivating as it is exhilarating.

The 85-table, 700-machine casino, already a landmark feature of the resort, now pulses with renewed vibrancy where light, color, movement—and a bit of celestial magic—converge. Iconic Dale Chihuly glass sculptures, immersive art and dynamic entertainment spaces flow seamlessly into an elevated, sensory-driven casino experience.

“The design is all about creating meaningful connections that positively influence guest behaviors,” says HBG Principal and Interior Design Leader Emily Marshall. “We wanted every aspect of the environment to feel energized and immersive—art, atmosphere and entertainment working together to keep guests fully engaged.”

A Showcase of Art and Design

One of the most captivating features of the Atlantis Casino remains its world-renowned Dale Chihuly sculptures: “The Sun” and “The Moon.” Created 25 years ago specifically for Atlantis, these masterpieces merge color, light, form and space into an immersive sensory journey.

The renovation gives these icons an even greater stage. New wood and metal vertical slat pedestals highlight but do not overpower the art. By relighting the sculptures and minimizing pedestal structures, HBG Design created a natural harmony between Chihuly’s works and the surrounding space, emphasizing the fluid interplay of art and environment.

The custom-designed carpet, saturated with 26 rich jewel tones, further stitches the art into the casino’s DNA, echoing the movement and light refractions of the sea.

The beloved murals throughout the casino have been artfully restored, and nearby light features have been updated to give the spaces a modern yet classic feel incorporating Atlantis’ signature design elements.

Adding to the newfound openness, ceilings previously covered by canopies were removed, creating a more spacious and airier atmosphere with a clear view of the entire casino—an architectural move that both expands the guest experience and encourages exploration.

Food, Beverage and the Art of Engagement

While art and environment set the tone, the transformation goes far deeper. Designers emphasized the strategic importance of food, beverage and entertainment venues as integral parts of the gaming experience, crafting two standout destinations.

Moon Bar, a longtime favorite, has been reimagined and expanded. A new elevated circular deck now allows guests to relax and socialize while remaining visually connected to the casino.

The brand-new Bar Sol is inspired by the late Sol Kerzner’s passion for Bahamian artists, music and entertainment. A restored Chihuly chandelier bathes the room in warm golden light. Beneath a raised stage and DJ booth, nightly live performances fill the space with the sound of celebration.

Designing the Energy

Ultimately, the Atlantis Casino renovation is a showcase of strategic, guest-focused design thinking. Every element—whether architectural, artistic or atmospheric—works toward a single goal: enhancing guest interaction and sustaining excitement across every touchpoint.

“We approached the entire casino environment as a continuous experience,” says Marshall. “Strategic sightlines, purposeful floor plan adjustments, immersive entertainment—these elements ensure that whether guests are gaming, dining or relaxing, they’re always part of the energy.”

With its bold new atmosphere, Atlantis Casino reaffirms its place as one of the world’s premier resort destinations. It’s a stunning example of how art, culture and strategic design converge to elevate the gaming experience, leaving every guest ready for the next adventure.
