Bringing a fresh wave of energy to Iowa’s entertainment and gaming landscape, the highly anticipated Cedar Crossing Casino and Entertainment Center in Cedar Rapids is poised to redefine the regional gaming and entertainment experience when it opens its doors in late 2026. Conceived as a community hub and visitor magnet, the project blends upscale design with Midwest sensibility—and a serious dose of fun.
Developed by Peninsula Pacific Entertainment (P2E), the destination has been masterfully brought to life by R2Architects and R2Interiors, a certified MBE interior design firm.
Together, they’ve created a one-of-a-kind environment where high design meets hospitality, and every detail supports the guest experience.
A Contemporary Icon
The exterior of Cedar Crossing Casino strikes a bold silhouette with a mix of local brick, textured concrete, custom perforated metal panels, and glass accents—all designed to complement the significance of the nearby Cedar River and inspired by the industrial aesthetic of the surrounding bridges, but with a modern twist.
Inside, guests are greeted by a palette of warm woods, natural stone, metal accents and locally inspired art installations creating a space that feels both elevated and approachable. The interior design concept by R2Interiors weaves together regional storytelling and contemporary comfort. Custom terrazzo flooring, ambient lighting features and artisanal finishes provide visual cohesion, while flexible layout zones make it easy for guests to transition from gaming to dining to entertainment.
Beyond the Casino Floor
At the heart of Cedar Crossing Casino and Entertainment Center is its 40,000-square-foot gaming floor, featuring 700 state-of-the-art slot machines, live table games and a dedicated high-limit area. But what truly sets the development apart is its all-encompassing entertainment offering.
A 1,200-seat performance venue will host concerts, comedy shows and touring acts year-round. This ground-up project features a one-of-a-kind Cultural Events Center that will house traveling/rotating exhibits with a heavy focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Guests under 21 are welcome, and the Cultural Center further reinforces the facility’s accommodation as a community hub.
In addition, there will be an eclectic mix of dining options—including a flagship steakhouse in partnership with Iowan and PGA golfer Zach Johnson, a fabulous casino center sports bar, a Smokehouse casual dining restaurant with live music, and a World’s Fare quick-serve dining option for guests wanting to get back to the action.
Designed for Iowa
Slated for a New Year’s Eve 2026 grand opening, Cedar Crossing Casino was created with local pride in mind. The design and construction process emphasized community involvement, with strong participation from local materials, local trades and local teams.
Cedar Crossing Casino and Entertainment Center is more than just a new casino—it’s a cornerstone project for Cedar Rapids and a shining example of design that excites, engages and endures.
